Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz exchanged vows in an intimate wedding ceremony on Saturday evening (May 17), their spokesperson has confirmed.

The top-secret event was held at Simpson’s parents’ home in Encino, California and was attended by 150 guests, including Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, actor Donald Faison and the pop star’s big sister Jessica, who served as maid of honor.

Jessica’s boyfriend, American footballer Tony Romo, was also present at the ceremony, despite reports the couple has split.

Ashlee wore an ivory lace Monique Lhuillier gown, complete with a diamond necklace and earrings by Neil Lane.

Father of the bride Joe Simpson, a former Baptist minister, performed the non-denominational service, and Fall Out Boy bassist Wentz’s English bulldog, Hemingway, was the ring-bearer, reports People.com.

Confirming the reports on Saturday night, the couple’s representative says, “We’re delighted to confirm that Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were married this evening in front of family and close friends.”

The newlyweds celebrated their new status as husband and wife with an Alice in Wonderland-themed reception, with black beauty roses by Mark’s Garden decorating each table. The wedding cake, by Sam Godfrey of Perfect Endings, featured a top hat, a tea pot, a stop watch and a pot of flowers on top.

The marriage comes amid rumors Ashlee is pregnant with the couple’s first child. Both stars have repeatedly dodged questions surrounding the alleged pregnancy, refusing to confirm or deny the reports.

This weekend, Mischa Barton was photographed sunbathing topless in Queensland, Australia. The candid pictures, taken by a paparazzo named Jamie Fawcett, show the 22-year-old actress half naked, with a lot of cellulite on her thighs. Mischa is reportedly furious over these photos.

“He’s a ridiculous human being. I’ve never abhorred anyone more. I was so angry I went up to him and said how disappointed I was with his behavior. He apologized but he was very insincere,” Barton says. [Source]

The photographer defended himself by saying that the actress was sunbathing topless in a public place, on a balcony in full view of everybody, and that he just did his job without trespassing anyone’s property.

oh there’s sad news to report tonight - legendary comedian & counterculture figure george carlin at age 71 passed away earlier this evening at a santa monica hospital from heart failure - he was admitted today complaining of chest pains and then died around 6pm - gosh he was so fucking funny - i remember when i was a kid - my dad had a record of one of his stand-up routines that included his infamous & hilarious bit about ‘the seven words that you can’t say on TV’ which you’ll find embedded below (obviously the audio is not safe for work) mr. carlin will surely be missed - they broke the mold when he was made! popbytes over & out…xxoo

Naomi Campbell joined the “Ugly Betty” cast for the second series finale, which will be aired on May 22nd.

The supermodel, who plays “a loony who loves to shop and can’t find a man”, will be seen taking part in a baseball game between a team of models (Elle magazine) and Ugly Betty’s Mode magazine team.

Naomi managed to control her temper during the shooting, not hitting anyone with the baseball bat except the ball itself - she apparently hit it so hard that it broke in half!

hey hey! this week’s national enquirer is featuring more supposed drama between oprah winfrey and her long-time partner stedman graham - by claiming oprah’s been getting all cozy with another man - i’m assuming the guy in question is pictured standing next to ms. winfrey over on portofino, italy a few weeks ago (he looks like her bodyguard to me) over the past few months oprah & stedman have been featured a bunch of times on the enquirer cover - a sign that maybe there really is trouble in their relationship but nobody knows what’s really going on (except maybe her BFF gayle king)

in other drama there’s heather locklear who apparently fled from rehab - with her doctors dramatically stating ’she will die’ - gosh i certainly hope not - that would be terrible (and we’d know who to blame) also on health scare is legendary actor paul newman who is rumored to not be doing so well at age 83 - he’s an incredible person (married to actress joanne woodward since 1958!) and was so damn good looking back in the day (hello butch cassidy and the sundance kid) when he passes on that’s going to be a huge loss for hollywood - they don’t make talent like that anymore!

besides health issues we’ve got marriage drama for the ‘pregnant man’ thomas beatie - the couple’s new baby is causing strife… and then there could be trouble for mariah carey and her new hubby nick cannon - i swear if their union lasts through the end of this year i’ll tattoo myself with ‘mariah & nick 4EVA’ (no worries it won’t last…) popbytes over & out for now…xxoo

The paparazzi spotted Eva Mendes leaving a liquor store in West Hollywood yesterday (June 25), carrying a large Barney’s New York shopping bag. Let’s hope she wasn’t there to buy any alcohol, because she doesn’t need another trip to rehab!
